Are You a Dad?
If you’re a dad, is there any other position in the universe that’s more important? Is there any other position with so much to learn?…no matter if your kid is one or twenty-one. As of today, I am a twenty-eight year veteran of this position, times two. With an eleven year difference between my two, number two brings up a whole new round and generation of challenges. The learning never stops. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
As a technician you know the learning never stops either. House repairs, errands, the kids’ ball and the wife’s car never
let up either. We haven’t even mentioned work yet. And we sure as heck haven’t even mentioned your mother-in-law. It’s okay, you’re not alone. There are quite a few of us out here trying to make sense of it all, trying to make it work.
Remember back when we told you it’s all about you? A big part of you is your family. And a big part of family is your kids. If I had this all figured out, I’d call this site The Kids Shop, but of course I don’t. So I look to others for help and guidance. On the how-is-your-manager-doing front… One mark of a good manager is if he asks how your kids are doing. He knows that there is more about you than punching in and giving it your all at work. It’s even better yet if he knows their names.
