It’s All About You
All right Dave, this writing is getting to you, isn’t it son? Wasn’t our last post titled It’s Not About You?
Dude, it’s not about me, it’s about our guests, our readers.
Sorry, we got a little carried away there. Did you ever draw a picture of a car? How about a spaceship, boat, submarine or house? No matter what it actually looked like, it felt pretty good, didn’t it? You were creating and designing an object of interest. Well, that’s exactly what we’d like to do with you. Help you design an interesting you.
Designing You
Write your name in the center of a piece of paper. Now circle it. Write around the outside of the circle the following: body, mind, others, meaning.
Body – This is the vehicle that will take you to where you need to go. This is you and your health. How far can your body take you if you are overweight and out of shape?
Mind – This is your own personal on board mainframe computer. To move forward, you need to program it with fresh knowledge, information and ideas.
Others - These are the folks who are invovled in your personal and business life. You are going no where without them.
Meaning – This is the why of your life. Why are you on this planet and what will you get out of life and work?
In Orbit
After you’ve drawn a circle around the above four items, write down the following categories. They are in orbit around you, your mind, body, others and meaning.
- career
- credentials
- certifications
- customers
- creativity
- employer
- family
- image
- industry
- knowledge
- resources
- personal organization
- personal development
- safety
- team
- tech skills
- tools-n-meters
- truck
We suggest that you get a notebook and create tabs for the above categories and items. This way you can make notes on your progress and maybe even a sketch or two of the new you to be!
